Need to work on an excuse to get this into a course.
1976 Ariel edition.
The pieces flow around like amoebae. Fiddly but good - really needs a computer version
Very interesting movement rules make this a challenging and unusual game. Geurilla is an odd title as the game resembles the movement of microorganisms more than warfare....released by Butehorn Spiel with another title....another must have abstract from the 1970's... a game worthy of time and study
Somewhere between Go and capture-based abstract games, Guerilla (or Evolution, actually better suited to the game's character) involves groups of up to five stones building up and moving across the board to cover as much territory as possible and keep it clear from opponent pieces. The aforementioned distant relatives of this game suggest depth and density - both can be found here indeed.
The concept of little blobs popping up on the board is rather original and the rules are amazingly clean, but the learning curve in this game is a steep one. Plus, the game ends by agreement and players that can't recognize yet when there's no point in fighting anymore can spend ages finishing off a game without any perspective of turning the tables. This leaves us with a game very well worth investigating but not for every occasion.
