Still one of the best miniatures rules sets I know of. This game deserved more attention. Too many plays to remember and record here.
Arnold Hendrick's terrific work that I go back and look at every now and then. I regret he didn't do more supplemental work on this excellent fantasy/historical hybrid system. Unfortunately this is really not a complete system.
Great game from my childhood
Bought the new pdf for $12.95 after searching for years for a VG set.
I applaud the effort put forth for this game, to hybrid a miniatures system with an RPG and have both a historical or fantasy angle with magic, campaign and siege rules and an entire line of miniatures to go with it.
That being said I find the 0-9 + 1d6 rolling mechanic to be a bit weird.
Published in the early 80’s, Knights and Magick was a great miniature wargame system for it’s time. The system still holds up really well compared to even the newest systems. I started playing K&M when I was about 12, and spent long hours playing with a friend who lived down the street. We purchased some molds from Prince August and molded up grand armies. The rules are very complete and are flexible for large scale battles as well as small skirmishes. Several scenarios are included as well as full blown rules for large campaigns. The tournament rules are also quite extensive and include tables for jousting, melee, and all the other grand tournament events. A siege rule set is also included for laying siege to castles, walls, towers, etc. Army lists are included for fantasy as well as historical armies; even a painting guide is included.
