fun game, i backed it at the highest amount and am very satisfied with gameplay and the beautiful art assets.
Run of the mill resource management game, with a pasted-on sci-fi theme. The use of Sorry pawns as resource markers did not help sell the theme or add to the production value.
It seems fun, but it is not. The card variety hinders the gameplay. You rarely interact with fellow players. It really is just a race to who can get the right cards first. You can win from last place with the right combination.
I was lucky enough to get in on some of the late cycle play testing. The game offers enough depth and variety to keep each play through unique and strategically interesting while being streamlined enough that game play doesn't bog down or drag.
It's a great entry into the casual or family gaming market, and should also be enjoyable for the hardcore gamer as a solid "filler" between games like Twilight Struggle or Eclipse.
Geekway 2017 play. Was in a bad mood. Deck builder. Not a fan.
Have 2-4 friends who enjoy a competitive card games. Give Metal Minds a try. This game is seemingly simple to learn but devilishly subtle in its strategy. Bring a poker face, diplomatic skills and a pension for sabotage for maximum enjoyment.
The reason why I don't already have this game is because it's currently in a Kickstarter campaign.
I found this game easy to pick up and learn to play. However, I found it a bit tricky to understand at first, though I'll admit I was quite ill when I played, so my head was a bit fuzzy to begin with.
What I like most about Metal Minds is that it has the thought process and strategy as any resource management/drafting game, but without the 2+ hours of gameplay.
