Geekway 2017 play. Was in a bad mood. Deck builder. Not a fan.
It seems fun, but it is not. The card variety hinders the gameplay. You rarely interact with fellow players. It really is just a race to who can get the right cards first. You can win from last place with the right combination.
Run of the mill resource management game, with a pasted-on sci-fi theme. The use of Sorry pawns as resource markers did not help sell the theme or add to the production value.
Nice little filler. Good job.
Very tight, fast-playing card game where you mine ores/crystals and fuse them into futuristic technology. Doesn’t take long to learn and yet there were very different strategies that emerged in the round I participated in. A lot depends on playing to the strengths of your starting character, so if you choose agents randomly it forces players to adapt.
The telekinetic metal manipulators is a very original theme and the designer went all out on the artwork. A lot of attention to detail! It must have taken a ton of time. If you are into sci-fi, you’ll appreciate.
I play games with 3 groups: family, friends and coworkers. What I like is that Metal Minds is a game I could see myself playing with all three. The game is teachable, streamlined and strongly themed so I could get my non-gamer family hooked, fast enough (under 30 minutes) to play with my coworkers (anything we play has to fit in our lunch break) and yet still deep enough for my hardcore gamer friends who like to analyze their every decision.
Seems like it would be easy to add expansion packs, too!
