The Ranger expansion adds a good amount of variety to the base game in the form of more nature-based enemies and interesting treasures. While I personally like this class and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the base game, the ranger's special abilities are somewhat quirky. Unlike the other heroes the ranger's special ability varies according to this level, but I still find both of his abilities to be quite useful.
So far, the ranger feels a bit underpowered. The level 1 skill (hiding) is great, but the level 2 skill (accuracy) seems quite weak. It would be better if you could change the 6 to match the other green die.
Perhaps it is balanced by having more/better ranger-specific treasure, or weaker monsters. But the monsters seem fully strong to me.
Adding/removing heroes to the game is a bit fiddly, since you have to alter 3 different decks. For now, I am storing every hero separately, and creating the decks at the start of each game, and splitting them back apart at the end of each game.
It's not a "must have", but does add some interesting variety, so if you enjoy QQ, it might be worth throwing into the cart with another TGC order. I would buy the Paladin before the Ranger if you were only getting one.
