Never grabbed me. Goes on too long with no variation, with an unpredictable "field" element that beginners can't grasp and experienced players struggle to control.

Carcassonne is one of my top games for lights games to play with friends on teach new people. It is visually pleasing when completing large swaths of tiles and the different scoring mechanics tend to keep all players active.

Much better than the base due to the expansions present which increase game length and complexity, but in enjoyable ways.

Great for two players.

They really should put it all together and not exclude Princess and Dragon, and the box doesn't really need to be so BIG considering it's just a bunch of tiles...but it's one of the finest Euro experiences one could ask for, scales well for player count and player ability.

Initially I didn't enjoy Carcassonne at all. After some repeat plays it started to grow on me and now I enjoy the game and will gladly join in.

I actually even broke down and picked up the Big Box of this just get get all the expansions that I started to enjoy. I rate the base game as a 7, but this packaging is worth the extra point just for the value of it.

If you are planning on picking up Carcassonne I highly recommend picking up the Big Box version.

Very good fun tile laying game, super easy to teach board game beginners. Usually play the base game without the expansions because they aren't really needed.
