Rating based on - 1 play, 2 player Trains: Gen Con 2013 consists of one full sized map of the area where Gen Con takes place and its environs. The map has a lot of field space with a river running through it but as to how faithful it is to the actual landscape I can't say. I suppose I would find it more charming had I ever been to Gen Con myself! We played it once and never re-visited because we liked other maps better.

Trains is a game that always has very pretty maps whether in the base game or the multitude of expansions. This Gen Con map available as a free Print & Play file from the AEG website is no exception. However Trains is a game that we don't find plays that great with only 2 players and this map is another 4 player map like those in the base game so our games were always wide open. Aside from that the gameplay just doesn't grab me. I love the theme and look of the game but deckbuilders just don't seem to be my thing. Status: AXED

The US locations are a plus, but the 3 3-station cities are far too close making a route connecting them the only viable board strategy. But then again that encourages more player interaction as we're all competing for the same locations.
