Fun combination of area control + engine building, with a few different paths to victory and an excellent action selection mechanism. Can stretch a little long at four players, but overall the pace of the game is pleasing. Rulebook is well-written and clear, and the physical production is fairly good for what was the retail price when it was released - I understand it has gotten quite a bit more expensive on the secondary market. The games biggest fault is how poorly it scales down - I really cannot recommend it at 2 players, as moves/strategy becomes a lot simpler, and the game develops a fairly bad runaway leader problem. Three players is good, but four is easily the player count you should be playing this at.

Really like the overall play of this game. The contention for control of region, The selection of actions and management of worker type. I dislike the end game scoring though. Feel like this detracts from overall play based on the sheer amount of points and categories.

Good medium-heavy euro. One caveat, I personally think the game only really works with 4 players.

LIKE: Good engine building. I like the meeple color selection action and the interaction with the influence tokens. It works, and you do feel tension trying to compete with the other players. The different factories and powers offer lots of paths to explore.

DISLIKE: The game feels fiddly and disconnected when collecting the bonuses for certain actions. Occasionally we forgot to collect a bonus here or there, which caused a little disappointment. There is a turn order disadvantage, unless players know the exact openings.

OVERALL: Great game, with some very clever mechanisms that have held up over the years of playing this. Not complicated, but dense with the amount of decisions and how different actions interact. I wish the game was just a tad more streamlined with the bonuses, but overall I enjoy it. I feel the game is best at 3 players, 4 could have some longer downtimes.

This game should be right up my alley, but it didn't really click with me for some reason. The game is very well designed, fairly easy to learn and deep strategically. I just didn't find the gameplay very compelling or fun.

Otro What's Your Game que no defrauda y se queda.
