PROMO: Stockpile: Investor Card Promo Pack #2 – Moneymaker Mitt and Socialist Sanders (2016)
Rating based on one play. Fun game with lots of cheers, groans, laughter and regret. Packs a lot of drama into a simple package. Second play still a lot of fun, if less dramatic and hilarious than the first.
I really like this breezy mesh of stock market auction, deduction and money management but I struggled to get it to the table. Too light and luck-driven for economic game fans, and the stock market theme drives most others away :(
Gateaway game for gamers... really like it.
Fun stock market game, though I prefer games where the market is player driven, rather than random. The insider information is fun, and can lead to some interesting speculation based on what a player is doing with their shares, but there is rarely enough information to make an informed decision (which is the point I suppose).
Stockpile can break down and become boring very easily if players do not outbid each other aggressively on the portfolios. It does little to prevent players placing a $0 bid on different portfolios, so it falls to the players to keep things interesting by policing the game's core mechanic.
Soooooooooo good!

LIKE: Simple idea, and putting one face-down card is entertaining. Plays quickly. Seeing the stock go up and down is fun and adds some drama. I did like trying to read other players to see what inside stock info they knew. Very interactive.
DISLIKE: Auction round and selling round can slow the game down due to another player's thinking. Some components were thin and bend easily. Player colors were wrong and did not match. Some randomness and luck, not a highly strategic game.
OVERALL: Can be fun! We played both sides of the board, and I think the advanced side of the board is needed to add that little extra edge to the game. Felt too random at times, therefore not a serious game.
