Excellent.
Very much in vein of the old Melee/ Wizard games. It comes complete with counters, combat map, and rules! Simple playing and deadly combat in a programed adventure means you can play it solitaire, or even with friends! Unlike role playing games there is no DM required.
This was the first of the "new" TFT adventures that I played for DCG. IT has th nostalgic feel of the old Metagaming solo books coupled with some of the newer RPG trends from today.
In other words, its a hack and slash with some fun roleplaying and character development as well. I mean that in a good way.
It is an adventure geared for higher CP characters, and some of the enemies can be brutal, but the game is still desingned to give the heroes a decent chance of surviving. (Not all of the programmed adventures I've played have been that balanced.)
While it does have some minor roleplaying hooks, it doesn't have as much non-combat as Island of Lost Spells.
In the end, if the heroes succeed they will hav gained some decent wealth, some fun adventures, and a minor artifact with some pretty cool abilities.
It's a good adventure to follow Island of Lost Spells, and a good one to run before tackling the BBEGs of Gates of the Underworld.
