RTL adds the need for careful long-term strategy to Descent's short-term tactics. The expansion itself is really well done and adds a lot of depth to the game. My biggest complaint is FFG's lackluster support for rules questions. Descent is a huge game, and I don't expect FFG to find every single problem during playtesting. But once players find one, FFG needs to make a ruling and not ignore the issue for weeks or months. If you play RTL, be prepared for many house rules or extensive research on FFG's Descent forum. You won't get answers from FFG by e-mail.
Very cool way of having a competitive fantasy heroes vs. evil overlord campaign. Seems like it may be slow-paced, long, and drawn out, though. I liked it, but the huge time commitment for a campaign doesn't appeal to me.
Makes the Descent Experience much more epic overall, but does make one game session feel less satisfying, because the heroes don't get stronger because of one dungeon. The potion restrictions per week are really a pain for the heroes, so that the good guy got a real beating in the first dungeon.
Love Descent, but Road to Legend is not something I would want to invest in.
Makes Descent something I really want to keep coming back to. Adds a ton to the game.
After playing a few times, I have setup down to a manageable time.
