Like a lot of the mechanics, and the asymmetry. Felt like it needed a little streamlining, a few too many options and stuff to track on your turn. One or two less clans per faction might have helped. 5 players is too many, too much time in between turns. feel like 3 might be the sweet spot. Would like to try with teams. Bit of a long teach.

Gnomes & Wizards isn't a bad game by any stretch, its got a fairly solid rules set, nice components and a mixture of art (some I love, some I don't), it was a game we enjoyed getting to the table.

I've had two chances to play prototype versions of "Gnomes and Wizards." The game is shaping up as a very colorful and clever take on area control. And though area control typically isn't my thing, I'm finding this one to be a lot of fun.

I particularly appreciate how you need to adapt your strategy to the outcome of your dice rolls. In true Yahtzee style, you get up to two re-rolls per turn. So if you're dead set on a given strategy, you can push your luck to get the dice you need to execute it. But there are enough viable secondary routes to victory - combat, minion summoning, card plays/acquisitions, etc. - that often you'll find yourself "rolling with the bad rolls," making the most of them and suddenly executing an entirely new strategy than the one you initially set out to achieve. This is a game that rewards the nimble-minded!

Again, the versions I've played are still prototypes, so there's a few rough edges yet to be worked out. The color palette is very busy at the moment, for instance, and at times it gets difficult to read the board. The designer is aware of this concern, so it's possible something will get tweaked in that regard before production.

Still, this is already a very enjoyable game, and again, that's coming from a non-area control fan. "Gnomes and Wizards" will be an insta-back for me when it hits Kickstarter in late January. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

This was a fantastic game to test-play! It has a century-type feel, and it has a video-game, adventurous feel! I can't wait to play it again, once it comes out!

Very fun game with a couple unique mechanics that I've not seen duplicated in any other games. I gave a 9/10 only because it's difficult for me to get games of it's length in at my usual tables. It's highly competitive and has its own unique charm about it.

Gnomes and Wizards is awesome! I love playing and trying to defeat the other gnomes/wizards in epic battles. I really enjoy that each player has different abilities and that the board changes, making for diverse and ever-changing game play, the replay value is great. I love the stacking crystals and the artwork is brilliant. Great game, enjoy!
