Great quick fire game, very easy to pick up. Avoids getting bogged down Advanced Squad Leader style!! Great for a good evening of fun.
I have always been a fan of Rapid Fire rules since they were released in 1994. For the non-competitive casual gamer. This version, is brilliant! affordable, and with the supplement, will give you all the rules you'll need to do ww2 at a platoon level game (1 vehicle model equals 3-5 actual vehicles and one infantry figure equals 15 men). Fast, easy to learn, and fun this is a great set of rules to run at conventions or at clubs as well as at home with friends. online support is great with free scenarios and vehicle charts for download. Jolly good! If you don't want to get bogged down in charts, meta, and the competitive scene, and enjoy playing scenarios and using actual force organizations these are the rules for you.
When asking others about what's the best rule set for..... Its a lot like wines, cigars, coffees, its all subjective and in the eye of the beholder. That being said there a few war games rules that bring a group together for a fun game that is closer to history without special gimmicks more than RF-R. I Have played the regular version of Rapid Fire multiple times in the past - Rapid Fire! Reloaded is exceptionally fun, but more importantly allows a large group of players to focus on their coordination and strategies without bogging down and dragging the game on too long. I have played it multiple times at conventions and at home and have yet to be disappointed. I have also played Chain of Command, Battle Ground, FOW, Bolt Action, Panzer, and several others to be able to make this comparison. Good Luck!
