Components fine, great series which is very well suitedfor solo play with the chitpull. BUT this particular game playes totally different from all the others. ALL the action is centered around the trenchline which runs the entire lenght of the map (fine map but not used at all besides along the trench,). Single Rgt,s will take a trenchhex or two only to be thrown out again. Very frustrating for the Union and quite boring for the CSA….there is no incentive for them to venture beyond the trenches, even for an “Easy” kill as there are no VP for eliminated units. Good game for showing the historical Battle but quite frustrating/boring as a game

Let me just state this right up front. This isn’t a fair fight. The Rebs have probably the best defensive terrain on any battle field I’ve ever seen to defend behind in a wargame. And these are not the best go get’em Yankees to tackle these rascals.
But that’s how it was. And to do it differently would be wrong. So, this isn’t an even-steven fight. This game produces one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever gamed in a Civil War battle. I’ve played each scenario once, at least, three of them with my gaming pard and had a blast each game.
Frustrating? You bet. Especially as a Yankee, but not exclusively. This game is a gem, and not for the faint of heart. The first three scenarios play fast, like within an hour or so. The rest, a bit longer but not too long. However, you’re not going to do big flanking marches or heroic corps sized charges.
As a Confederate, you’ll feel massively outnumbered, but still stand your ground. As a Yankee you’ll feel you can conquer hell, and get beat by the swamps, cypress groves, and the damned bayous.
Oh well, war is hell! But this game beats all hell; get it, play it, enjoy it!
