Played at Gencon 2016 with the new 2.0 rules. The system is easy to learn and not over encumbering. I actually found it easier to play than Sails of Glory. Bookkeeping is pretty minimal. The system allows for role playing and unique scenarios. It's fantastic on a big table with a lot of ships and forts. The cost is high but not over the top, especially if you can use the ships for other games or display. A creative GM can do some really cool things, even with only a few ships. Looking forward to"tweaking" the rules for a two player variant. Pretty sure a lot of the RPG aspect can be maintained with a little hidden information.
This game had a few neat ideas, but it also had a lot of not so hot rules. This game tries to do to much. It wants to have miniatures combat, board game like scenarios, and role playing story telling. It all kind of makes an over-produced, expensive mess.
Played this at 'Con on the Cob' 2009. I enjoyed it in general. There were a couple of aspects which made me hesitate about getting it, though. First, the resin ships are expensive. They look great, but the dollar outlay is pretty high.
Second, close range firing didn't seem quite accurate enough, in relation to long range shooting. Or perhaps the long range fire was too accurate. Either way.
