It's hard to look at this as anything but a Brass expansion (in the same way that I treat all AoS maps as expansions to the base game). It certainly provides the same experience.

After a second (full) play, I can say that I definitely like it, but it is awfully similar to Brass. I seem to have trouble converting money into useful buildings, as in both games so far, I only took two loans all game, and ended with over 40 dollars prior to the rail income.

I like it better than Brass! But there are some things that are a bit disappointing especially the links/rail subsystem. A house rule I propose is that players with the most links in a rail network when shipping coal, iron, or goods get compensated $1 but if there is a tie for most links no money is rewarded, this is more thematic and makes rail links a little more interesting and doesn't detract from the game or make rails overpowering. I like the loan system, and the lack of randomness in shipping, but I think the limit of how many tiles you can place per location is too balancing. My real complaint is that it's still a 2 hour affair, it would be better if this could fit in about 75 minutes or less.

Interesting variant on brass which feels quite different to it's predecessor - money feels tighter (good), but with less players, over the course of the game most players will end up building most of their industries, turning these choices into more about timing than long-term direction (bad). Interested in trying alternate maps to see how / if they address this.

The base game of this is ok. I prefer Brass, I played it first. but also the map seems more interesting then those provided in AoI. I've not got nor played the AoI expansion maps, I've heard they are good. but it's not looking like AoI is going to have any more maps released (official) which is a shame.

Very able retooling of Brass. Age of Industry seems to be Brass Rebooted. A couple of plays in and I am enjoying both sides of the map. The external market variability goes a good distance for replayability and the two player game seems nicely balanced. I'd have more hope in seeing this coming to the table more often for more gaming fans at-large.
