My favorite Gettysburg game. Like this edition more than the 2nd. The graphics capture the feel of ACW position maps from way back.

Still have my copy. Not the best graphics by a long shot, but the system is very enjoyable even with a first edition game like this one.

Extremely long game. Once the lines settle down things get a bit repetitive, mechanically. Rules are pretty straight forward, the orders system being the big draw. Definitely use the 3.2 rules rather than the incomplete 1st ed. rules.

On the strength of this game, I'd play more of the CWB series but I don't think I have the appetite for another 60 hour battle. That's too long.

Like its sister game, In Their Quiet Fields, a good brigade level simulation of the Battle of Gettysburg. Also very good as a game. Not simple and not short but it does provide tension and great game-play. Highly recommended.

Update 2/24: I have converted this game to the Line of Battle game system and I'm enjoying it much more. Overall, it was a very easy conversion and plays much faster and cleaner.
