One of my favorite games! I've played it solo and with one of my kids. It's a great challenge and very thematic. Love the different skills of each character and the approaches each can take. So much fun, with fantastic minis and components. Great natural storage built in to the box!
Although we're not fans of dice chuckers, this one has won us over. Very thematic and fun
Easy to play and teach others to play. Kids (age 8 and 11) picked it up with minimal hand holding. Really dig the minis. Easier to get to the table with my casual board game friends than something with a longer commitment and campaign, and better than other more casual crawlers. I love how the game has a simple 2 act structure, but enough variety between scenarios to make it interesting to see how each one plays out.
Black goat, season 2, unspeakable box and yog sothoth
I think it's a good game in itself. It's just not to my liking, because too many negative things are happening and you feel like there's very little you can do about it. Unfortunately, the lucky elements of the dice and Mythos cards only reinforce this. I don't like that kind of gameplay. I sold it.

12/22 - Three plays in, I'm loving this game. It feels challenging but not overwhelmingly so. Victories are close calls. Since your investigators get stronger as they go more insane, it creates an epic ark... you're strongest right before you die, so every one of your last moves becomes super high stakes - do you do a ton of damage to the elder god or do you lose your mind? I also love how this game causes these beautiful, cinematic moments. I don't really like dungeon crawlers at all, I normally hate a ton of luck, but this game is just incredible. It's all about taking measured risks and the excitement around the table during a big roll is just incredible. There's enough strategy that you know it's the guide to you winning/losing, but there's enough luck that your outcomes are never certain. Most importantly - it's very easy to teach and that's huge, as it allows me to play this with every gaming group I have. Only negative is the set-up can be a lot, but once several of you know the game, it gets a lot easier.
