A great introductory guide to Ancient Wargaming written by Phil Barker, one of the founding members of the Wargamers Research Group. A very interesting reading even today, despite the somewhat contrived style of writing.
Not my first wargame book but the one that propelled me into wargaming with miniatures.
Bought this in '75. Its the main reason i do gaming, especially ancients. Excellent little book.
Exceptional introduction to ancient warfare. The rules sections are rather dated now, but the background information is first rate. Prose is somewhat stilted and very exact.
