Le Torri di San Gimignano

Five plays. It took us a while to figure this one out (the English rules are not great), but once we did (and started keeping track of the cards played) it turned out to be a nifty little filler. I like it more and more with each play, though I wonder if going for colorful towers is always going to be the winning strategy.

This game has enough strategies to bite on to make it a keeper. Theres ways to rush the game and end it quickly, and also ways to rack up points quickly if you see that someone else is rushing it. It sometimes feels like a game of chicken, but not in a lame way.

A really fine 2p card game with tactics, strategy, and a fine combo of scoring mechanisms. Feels familiar and yet still fresh. The mech of ending the game at any time forces players to watch their opponent closely. More detailed review after several more plays.

Nifty set collection game fashioned after rummy but with som special powers. Enjoyable on its first play and suggests that there’s a deeper strategy to uncover.
