Very chaotic four-way Shogi which should be played quickly and probably becomes entertaining in its wackiness. I assume it's regarded as a very casual game by actual Shogi players.
Played with children and with animal shogi set - Doubutsu shogi. It was surprisingly good experience.

Sort of wacky 4-player variant. Diplomacy/negotiation naturally becomes significant. OK as a light silly variant, it seems, but a bit long; maybe next time we'd play that the first person to mate anyone wins, instead of that the sole survivor wins. (That would also remove some ambiguities about how to handle the pieces/turn of the eliminated player.)
We found that the rules were a bit tricky and have various variants mentioned inline, so a bit of discussion beforehand seems wise to confirm everyone is on the same page.
9x9 four player Shogi.
TSA/George Hodges version.
I don't actually own a professionally published version of this, but printed out a paper set and rules from the internet. Some day I'll get a manufactured one or carve a wooden one.
