Great for introducing people to Shogi or you want a shorter game.

It's certainly a better intro to Shogi than Mini since it illustrates the use of the kei. And for the same reason should have greater strategic depth than Mini. Anyway, I like it and think that it deserves more love.

The Player of Games

6x6 Shogi variant using one of each of the standard Shogi pieces except the lance.

Made a couple of boards - see files section:

  1. Wood grain background for use with standard shogi pieces.
  2. Dobutsu style brackground for use with pieces from Dobutsu Shogi in the Greenwood.

The latter is an excellen stepping stone to full shogi for kids as almost all types of shogi pieces are used.

Thrift Thopter

I don't actually own a professionally published version of this, but printed out a paper set and rules from the internet. Some day I'll get a manufactured one or carve a wooden one.
